Information Circular No 23/2011Selection for overseas above the prescribed age – and medical examination

By General Secretary

New arrangements are being introduced for the processing of applications for overseas service from personnel above the prescribed age limits outlined in Admin Instruction, Part 26.

Those above the prescribed age limits will now apply to D COS (Sp) to serve overseas having been certified by unit commander as meeting the medical classification for the mission outlined in Admin Instruction, Part 26, Annex MM.

Where D HRM, on behalf of D COS (Sp) approves an application then a full overseas medical examination will be carried out. Those selected will be able to present for the medical with a document outlining the derogation they have received to serve overseas in a specific mission and appointment.

The change has also been reflected in DMC Instruction No 40 (Medical Examinations).

PDFORRA has agreed to the introduction of the above proposed change.
