Information Circular No 06/2021: Reminder Portlaoise Prison Working Time Directive Claims

Previous Information Circular No 32/2020 refers.

PDFORRA wishes to advise members that the compensatory scheme agreed between our Association and the Department of Defence for alleged breaches of the Working Time Directive has been extended to include any rotations which have taken place since 17th September 2019.

Accordingly, the following terms apply:

  1. Personnel who undertook Prison Duty since (or during the period) of the 17th of September 2019, who completed a minimum 27 out of 33 days during each rotation are to receive €100 plus an additional days leave for each reference period.

Moreover, personnel are reminded that:

  • Personnel who undertook Prison Duty within the past 5 years who completed a minimum 27 out of 33 days during each rotation are to receive €100 plus an additional days leave, for each referenced period – up to a maximum of €500 and 3 additional days Annual Leave
  • PDFORRA members wishing to claim compensation (who have not done so already) shall be required to complete a declaration, Form 1, before payment will be made.

Copies of Form 1, are available to all members and can be attained from your local District Committees.

Please note that there is no change to the original form previously used.

The additional leave element of the mediated agreement is currently being applied to personnel across the Defence Forces.

However, in the event that your additional leave is not applied to your leave record, you are requested to contact PDFORRA HQ, where the matter will be addressed immediately on your behalf.
