Information Circular No 04/2021: PROVISION OF OUT OF HOURS SERVICE

The Department of Defence has informed PDFORRA that an out of hours’ service contract has recently been signed with GP24.  The provision of this contract now means that Members will NOT have to pay upfront for a medical consultation when using this service.

Out of hours GP Services – Dublin Members working or living in the Dublin region can call GP24 on 01 5180808 to book an appointment. The provider has clinics in Templeogue and Drumcondra (address here: Out of Hours GP Services –
The Curragh KDOC – 45 848701 or 1890 599362. Website: Locations: Vista Primary Care Campus, Naas, Celbridge Health Centre and Athy Health Centre.
Out of Hours GP Services –
Gormanston NEDOC – 1850 777911 Website: Locations: Cavan General Hospital, NEDOC Centre, Bree Road, Castleblayney, Cottage Hospital, Drogheda and NEDOC Centre, Unit 2, Academy Sq, Academy St., Navan. 
Out of Hours GP Services –
Galway GPCare – 091 773000 Website: Locations: Harrmack House, Tuam Rd, Galway, Galway City East Primary Care Centre,Doughiska, Galway and No. 4 Ballybane Rd Ballybane, Galway.

Members must identify themselves as a member of the Defence Forces during the call and produce their Defence Forces ID Card for verification purposes to ensure that no fee is payable on the night.

Following the consultation, the GP will send the patient’s clinical notes to the Defence Forces for adding to the patient’s Medical file.

Contact details for all these GP’s have already been provided to each Medical Aid Post.

Central billing arrangements are also being put in place with Out of Hours GP’s around Ireland in close proximity to each Barracks.

CMU is continuing to work on central billing agreements with Out of Hours providers in Cork, Limerick, Kilkenny, Donegal, Dundalk and Athlone.
