Information Circular No 11/2020: – REVOCATION OF GRO 04/2020 AND PROMULGATION OF GRO 05/2020 General Guidance on COVID -19

By Industrial Relations Officer

The General Staff have published updated guidelines on the procedures to be followed by Defence Force members during the current public health emergency. It has been repeated within this General Routine Order (GRO) that the current situation is one which is evolving and guidance may be subject to change. As a consequence, members should regularly check Military.ie and keep abreast of PDFORRA circulars.

The guidelines within the updated GRO are designed to follow national policy, as issued by the HSE, while ensuring that Defence Force capabilities are maintained for the support of the State.

Members are reminded of their collective responsibility to engage in appropriate procedures and protocols to ensure the protection of your comrades and yourself.

The HSE have asked that information posters relating to travel advice, social distancing, self-isolating and protecting yourself and others be displayed widely.

Members are again reminded of the HSE live number 1850 241850, should they require clarification on any issues. Alternatively, during routine working hours, personnel may contact their unit military medical facility.

In cases of medical emergency (severe symptoms present) personnel must contact 112 or 999. Personnel are directed NOT to attend at a military medical facility, unless otherwise directed.

Commanders have been asked, in as far as is practicable, to implement flexible work practices being cognizant of operational outputs.

Members are reminded that Personnel Support Services (PSS) are available should they be required.

A Frequently Asked Questions  (FAQ) document has been published in conjunction with the GRO and  will be published on the PDFORRA App for members to view.
