Information Circular No 14/2019 – Publication of Public Service Pay Commission Report

By Industrial Relations Officer

PDFORRA is acutely aware of recent pronouncements regarding the publication of the Public Service Pay Commission report. On Monday 27/05/2019, the Association was advised that a briefing was to be given to Officials on Tuesday afternoon; however, this invitation was subsequently rescinded as the Association was advised that Government would need time to consider the report of the Commission.

In the interim, PDFORRA has contacted Senior Officials to express the frustration being felt by members on the ground. Additionally, the Association has made numerous statements to the media to the foregoing effect, some of which have not been carried due the volume of media coverage over the past number of days.

The Association remains committed to a full examination of the report once it is published, and thereafter consultation with our membership on its recommendations.

Additionally, the Association remains committed to a hearing before the Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence Committee once the full report is published. This will afford the Association the opportunity to discuss issues such as the application of the Working Time Directive and current contractual entitlements which were not within the remit of the Commission to explore, yet impact significantly on the working conditions of our members. Further, it will provide the Association the opportunity to discuss any other matters which may arise following publication of the Public Service Pay Commission report.

PDFORRA will issue further Information Circulars in the coming days regarding ongoing negotiations on the application of the Working Time Directive and the finalisation of the new promotional competition XYZ.
