Information Circular No 10/2017: Lansdowne Road Agreement

By Industrial Relations Officer

Following a period of consultation with the membership, agreement has been reached with the Department of Defence on the application of the Lansdowne Rd Agreement (LRA) to the ranks represented by PDFORRA.

A formal written agreement will be drawn up and arrangements will be made to pay the pay increases provided for by the Agreement including any arrears due in the case of those earning less than €30,000 annualised salary.

The modernisation and change agenda most recently applied under the Haddington Rd Agreement will continue to be progressed through negotiations under the Lansdowne Rd Agreement.

Discussions held on Friday 17th February 2017 – between PDFORRA, Defence and D PER, which were facilitated by the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), allowed PDFORRA to finally conclude an agreement on the terms of the Lansdowne Rd Agreement by reaching an acceptable outcome of the 2013 Private rank pay parameters.

The WRC noted that PDFORRA, Defence and D PER have agreed the parameters within which they will conclude their discussions on pay and these concluding discussions will be held in tandem with those taking place to negotiate a successor agreement to the Lansdowne Rd Agreement (LRA) and around the Public Service Pay Commission (PSPC).

The matters discussed at the WRC dealt with interpretation and technical issues on the savings to be achieved under the Haddington Rd Agreement (HRA) rather than any matters of principle.
