Information Circular No 24/2015: Payment of Outstanding PRD Deduction

By Industrial Relations Officer

Under the terms of the Haddington Road Agreement in 2013, the Pension Levy or Pension Related Deduction, (PRD), was to be decreased by €125 per annum.  In 2013, as the agreement commenced on 1st July 2013, the reduction due was €62.50 for every Public Servant.  However, as PRD could not be altered in the course of a year, the new rate took effect only from 1st January 2014.

PDFORRA entered into correspondence with the Department on the 30th of October 2015, seeking the payment of the outstanding sum owing as the legislation before the Oireachtas, which sought to give effect to the Lansdowne Road Agreement, made express provision to pay this debt.

It is understood that it is intended that a ‘one off’ payment of €62.50 will be paid to all Public Servants in this tax year, most likely, in the majority of cases, in December.

The Department confirmed in correspondence to PDFORRA that Soldier Pay Section will be in a position to pay the refund to Defence Forces personnel in week 52 of 2015.
