Information Circular No 01/2019: Proposed Equalisation Measures to Salary Scale of Privates – Who Enlisted Since 2011

By Industrial Relations Officer

Subsequent to discussions that took place last year between PDFORRA the Department of Defence and DPER Officials, the following worked examples of changes to increments have been provided to the Association.

Soldier A enlisted in March 2011. S/he is now on point 7 of the scale and is due to go to point 8 on 1 March 2019. Instead of going to point 8 in March 2019 s/he will move to point 9.

Soldier B enlisted in 2012 and is now on point 6. Instead of moving to point 7 in March 2019 s/he will move three increments to point 9.

Soldier C enlisted in 2013 and is on point 5. Rather than moving to point 6 in March 2019 s/he will move to point 7. S/he will also skip point 8 on the subsequent incremental date going from 7 to 9.

Soldier D enlisted in 2014. S/he will move from point 5 to 7 in 2019 and will also skip point 8 on the subsequent incremental date, going from 7 to 9.

Soldier E enlisted in 2015. S/he will move up two increments in 2019 moving from point 4 to 6. S/he will also skip point 8 when s/he reaches it.

Soldier F, G and H enlisted in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively. They will skip point 4 and 8 when they reach these incremental points.

The aforementioned movements arise as a consequence of paragraph 4.1.3 of the Public Sector Stability Agreement 2018 – 2020, of which PDFORRA is a signatory, and Section 11 of the Public Service Pay and Pensions Act.
