What is PDFORRA?
PDFORRA is the Permanent Defence Force Other Ranks Representative Association It is a statutory body set up under the 1990 Defence Amendment Act and Defence Force Regulation (DFR ) S6. Its purpose is to represent and pursue the interests of enlisted personnel serving in the Army, Naval Service and Air Corps, on specified matters regarding their pay and certain conditions of service.
Who are its members?
Membership of PDFORRA is open to all enlisted personnel of the Permanent Defence Force. At present over 90% of enlisted personnel are members of the Association.
Where are the offices of the Association?
The National Office is located at: John Lucey House, Collins Square, Benburb Street, Dublin 7 and there are six Regional Offices:
Eastern Region, c/o Military Complex, Government Buildings, Dublin 2.
Southern Region, Kickham Barracks, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.
Aero Region, Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, Dublin 22.
Western Region, Custume Barracks, Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
Naval Region, Naval Base, Haulbowline, Cobh, Co. Cork.
Kildare Region, The Verges House, McDermott Barracks, Curragh Camp, Co. Kildare.
In addition to this most District Committees have offices within their barracks/post/ship
What can PDFORRA do for me?
Prior to 1990 enlisted personnel in the Permanent Defence Forces had no elected representative group to represent them on service matters. PDFORRA now negiotates on all important service matters including pay & allowances, pensions, conditions of service such as promotions & career courses, accommodation, clothing, equipment, welfare, Health & Safety and medical services.
